For students who want to become community leaders, organize service projects, speak up with confidence, explore public office, or study law. Start with the people and issues around you.
Learn at your own pace. Practice listening, research, teamwork and public speaking. You do not need to be planning a legal career.
Listen to a local need, plan a supervised service project and explain how you will know it helped.
Understand local offices, the Texas Legislature and Congress. Practice through an educational youth-government simulation.
Explore Youth Government →Connect your leadership skills to case analysis: question claims, check sources and consider other perspectives.
Open the Case Library →Choose a manageable concern, such as access to library resources. Write a one-page plan: What is the need? What public information supports it? Who can help? What permissions are needed? What is one realistic action? How will you evaluate the result?
Practice a 60-second explanation with a trusted adult. Do not collect private information or start a public activity without appropriate supervision and permission. This practice activity is not a scholarship entry.
Lead the Way is the civic-engagement experience within our connected JURIS pathway. Explore election learning and mock voting, then return to JURIS for reflection and community leadership. Ballot choices stay outside learning assignments.
